The WonderWorks Experience

As part of its vision to build the world’s favourite collection of scale model and toy brands, Hornby Hobbies created a new flagship destination in Margate.

H:F developed the destination proposition, name, visual identity, and interior design concept, creating a series of brand worlds to appeal to existing enthusiasts and hobbyists as well as a new generation of family and leisure visitors.

Following a study tour of leading destinations with the management team, H:F developed the master plan and overall look and feel for the venue, as well as the interior design and model concepts for five brand worlds to showcase Hornby, Scalextric, Airfix, Corgi and Pocher.

In addition to the interior design, H:F developed the WonderWorks name and visual identity including all signage and graphics throughout the development, from exterior signage to cafe menus, retail point of sale and exhibition wall and case graphics. The WonderWorks opened in October 2023.

“Even a tricky brief, a challenging budget and a compressed timeline couldn’t stop H:F bringing an amazing experience to life for the Hornby brands.” — Olly Raeburn, CEO, Hornby Hobbies
