Cape & Cape, Compagnie de Trucy

Tea’s new horizon

  • Strategy
  • Identity

From Cap Blanc in Tunisia to Cape Town in South Africa, the modern African spirit is passionate, surprising and contemporary.

Founder and avid tea collector Matthias Leridon’s aim was to bring authentic South-African Rooibos and African teas to the European market, encapsulating this 21st century image, appealing to a young, stylish and design-conscious audience. From extensive research in the tea sector across London and Paris, H:F envisioned Cape & Cape as a brand that spans horizons as much as it aspires to expand them.

H:F designed the strategic brand vision and its subsequent identity collateral. We also worked extensively on the direct-to-consumer product and packaging design.

For the range we created four unique patterns to differentiate between product types: Pure Rooibos, Flavoured Rooibos, Pure African Tea and Flavoured African Tea, all with reference to the historic warp and weft process present in traditional African fabrics. A colourful palette was developed inspired by the spices and flavours used to make up each blend, within each product type there are up to 25 different colour ways and combinations.
