H:F were recommended to The Royal British Legion to assist in the creation of a national network of drop-in and help centres for service people and ex-service people across the country.

To be located on high streets of major cities and close to military communities, these outlets are designed to blend the appearance of a café with a retail environment, encouraging those seeking support, including families and carers, to enter a welcoming environment seeking help as needed.

H:F worked with the senior team at The Royal British Legion to understand the ethos and values of the organisation and led the creative process, including naming, all graphic design and the interior design of prototype units in London’s Borough and central Birmingham. A national roll-out followed. Building on the reputation and warmth of the Poppy Appeal the new centres were named Pop-In in an unusual break with the convention of military fundraising.
